Screen Studies – Storyboard and Screen Direction

At the moment in Screen Studies, we have been learning about the process of storyboard. We have been discussing about how the composition of visual elements in a frame can affect how a story and its characters can be represented. By using movement along the X, Y, and Z axis of a frame and placing characters and objects in particular positions within a frame, can ultimately affect on how an audience views the relationship between these characters and objects. It can even affect on how an audience sees particular characters negatively or positively. These film techniques are used in scenes to trigger an emotional response from an audience, and reveal certain elements to this audience about the story that hold a symbolic value.
